That promo album with the bullet hole stamps is wild! Thanks for sharing your life in music!

"Daddy, why's it say 'promo'? What's a promo?" I swear that convo happened when I was about 10 ('65)! "Well, y'see, son.........." Thanks, Thea! It was a gas to do....the good news is the whole of FRONT ROW & BACKSTAGE literally fills in the many blanks throughout this!

Many thanks, again, to Chris Bro, for the idea and invite, and Andy, for the nudging me along....as he would say so adorably, "It worked a treat!"😁👍🎵

Since I spent most of 2024 writing about my journey through life and music on Substack I won't repeat it here but anyone can check it out! I have Top Tens for every year of my life! https://danpal.substack.com/s/the-playlist-of-my-life-a-top-ten

A must read, readers who haven't yet....Dan kept annual Top Ten lists for many years, and shared them with friends in annual parties! He even took photos and videos of those times, and kept them over the years to bring them to us here!!

Another must-read (IMO!), Dan, is the expanded version of my portion of this piece, coming this weekend, FR&B! Kind of a "Director's Cut"!! See ya there!

Great fun to follow Brad's journey -- I did know about the Beatles influence -- and also Chris' surprising warmup songs for the soccer pitch.

Love the Grassroots' Midnight Confessions, but want to know if Brad followed suit with the pink frilly shirt worn by Rob Grill? Those were the days music and fashion-wise. I even had a Nehru shirt!

Looking forward to more of these.

"Pink frilly shirt"? No, but, I did wear a silver lame, form-fitting shirt (blouse?) with wide sleeves onstage for a couple Brimstone gigs! We lead singers had to stay with the times (1971-'73)...even to the point of wearing white face and eye-liner (and, of course, my long blond hair down my back)!!

That’s brilliant. Pics?

There were two promo 2'x3' B&W posters made of me, onstage...looking exactly as I described above (and, presumably, we sold them)! If any still exist, I have no idea where (and, I don't have any), plus, they'd probably be all yellowed and brittle!

One was of me singing, and the other was of me playing the flute! We'll have to use our imaginations!

So disappointed! That would have been priceless, and great blackmail material.

I was really proud of them, really.....I had lost quite a bit of weight (who wants a fat lead singer? We weren't exactly Canned Heat!!), and looked pretty slim in that shirt!!

I envy people who were in bands. Gives you cred as both a musician and someone who gave it a shot, as well as the opportunity you got to wear cool threads. If I had a do-over...
